The Sims was originally concieved as an architectural simulation, 
where the idea was to create a dream home and furnish it with 
objects.  The "Sims" themselves were supposed to just provide 
feedback, by stopping by and giving their emotional opinions on 
your decorative ability.  During play testing however, it was 
discovered that the players were more interested in playing with 
the Sim characters.

The Sims became the most popular PC video game in history, 
establishing what is now called "life simulation" video games.  
The game is esentially a sandbox in which you try to fulfil the 
needs of your Sims. It spawned seven expansion packs:
	1) Livin' Large
	2) House Party
	3) hot date
	4) Vacation
	5) Unleashed
	6) Superstar
	7) Makin' Magic

In The Sims, only the Sims themselves are rendered in 3d.  The 
houses and objects are all rendered as 2d Isometric projections.  
2d is superior to 3d for "construction" simulators, but because 
later versions of the Sims are exclusively 3d, none of the 
buildings or objects can be imported into the newer games.  
Interestingly, the characters from The Sims 1 can be imported 
as characters into the game Sim City 4.  

The Sims was protected by three separate copy protection schemes: 
The disk cannot be cloned by normal CD burning software, the 
installation requires inputing a serial number, and the game 
must be launched with the original CD in the CD drive.

Installation Instructions:


	Create a base game CD from the ISO file "THE_SIMS.ISO".

	Intall the game from the newly created CD.

	Use the Serial Number from the file "sims_sn.txt" 
		-Select "register offline" and choose "print for mailing".
		-WARNING, do NOT send in the registration!

	Launch The Sims, and choose the Goths at 5 Sims Lane.

	Activate the Help System, then quit the game Without Saving.

	Create a "Livin' Large" CD from the ISO file "THE_SIMS_EP.ISO".

	Install the expansion pack from the newly created CD.

	Use the Serial Number from the file "ep1_sn.txt" 
		-Select "register offline" and choose "print for mailing".
		-WARNING, do NOT send in the registration!

	Do NOT install AOL.

	Launch The Sims from this CD, and choose the Goths at 5 Sims Lane.

	Activate the Help System, then quit the game WITHOUT Saving.

	Repeat above for the expansion pack "House Party" (ep2_sn.txt).

	Repeat for the expansion pack "hot date" (ep3_sn.txt).
		-Note, have your "House Party" disk ready as files need copying.

	Repeat for the expansion pack "Vacation" (ep4_sn.txt).

	Repeat for the two disk expansion pack "Unleashed" (ep5_sn.txt).

	Repeat for the two disk expansion pack "Superstar" (ep6_sn.txt).

	Repeat for the two disk expansion pack "Makin' Magic" (ep7_sn.txt).
		-Note, you may install the AOL 8 software if you choose.

	Rename Makin' Magic "Sims.exe" file on your hard drive to "MM_Sims.exe".

	Add here the NoCd crack "Sims.exe" from the ZIP archive "nocd.zip".
		-Note, you may have to press continue several times to start game.

	Launch The Sims Makin' Magic, and choose the Goths at 5 Sims Lane.

	Activate the Help System, then quit the game WITHOUT Saving.
