Clash of Steel: Future Edition (1995 SSI) "A strategic and eminently playable simulation of World War II in the entire European Theater (including both Eastern and Western Theaters). Reminiscent of Avalon Hill's boardgame Hitler's War, it is everything that Storm Across Europe should have been and wasn't. Although the graphics are dated, in effect, they were not the attraction of this program, and it still offers great play value today." This updated version of SSI's classic Clash of Steel is the same game, but with numerous bug fixes and AI enhancement. SSI should have included new maps or scenarios with this release, but at least existing users got a discount when upgrading to this version. If you have never played the original, this is the version you should get. Definitely an embarrassing reminder to all game companies to better beta-test their game before release, as THIS is what the original game should have been. The marketing ploy of making it seem like a different game by calling it "Future Edition" doesn't sit too well with gamers either, as it's more appropriately a "Finished Edition." Marketing gimmicks and poor planning notwithstanding, this still remains one of SSI's overlooked classic World War II wargames, with competent AI, many interesting scenarios, and attractive graphics. Thumbs up!
